Stearman Moulds

The plug for the fuz (not visible) was made from cardboard and balsa, covered in Solartex, sprayed, waxed and then moulded (five components). The black component is the dummy crankcase which due to its complex shape and protrusions was moulded using cream-coloured liquid silicon moulding rubber (flexible for removing finished product and needs no release agent). The red components are the dummy cylinder halves, turned from plastic, sprayed red and again moulded in (red) liquid silicon moulding rubber to aid removal once dry. The other components are a few struts, fuz panels, etc.
